AMA PDX
The American Marketing Association Portland Chapter
Portland is home to some of the most creative and innovative marketing professionals in the nation, working with businesses that include local start-ups, globally-recognized brands, and everything between.
AMA PDX brings together these professionals, from across Portland and the surrounding areas, through valuable professional development events, networking opportunities, and monthly luncheons.
AMA PDX was originally established in 1959 as the AMA Oregon chapter. In 2012, we renamed to AMA PDX to better align with our mission to serve the Portland Metro and Southern Washington marketing communities.
Our Mission and Values
We are committed to being a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization because marketing is for everyone. We have developed DEI guidelines as a basis for how AMA PDX operates and serves our community:
Diversity
We believe that we develop more creative marketing campaigns and become stronger marketers when we draw from the experiences of people with different backgrounds and perspectives. We strive to have diverse representation among our speakers, panelists, and Board of Directors. We also take the initiative to present AMA PDX at diverse locations and events in the Portland area. We survey our members to solicit interest and involvement with AMA PDX, suggestions on topics, and speaker recommendations, and work with nonprofits representing underserved, underrepresented communities through our AMA PDX Agency Program.
Equity
We believe that if everyone feels like they have an equal seat at the table, people are more willing to speak up, voice their ideas, and grow stronger together. We encourage equitability in our Board of Directors through continual team learning, discussions and improvements. We strive to apply an equity lens by asking additional questions before planning any of our programs, communications, or events, and during events, encourage active discussions from all attendees.
Inclusion
We believe that being inclusive connects us with people from all walks of life and various perspectives which helps to create a stronger and more creative marketing community. We strive to be accessible and inclusive for everyone across all of our events, programs, and communications by making our content available online for event registrants, posting blog recaps for those who are unable to access our events in-person, and by ensuring that our event spaces are accessible for those with disabilities.
We understand that these guiding principles will evolve year after year, and AMA PDX will continue to uphold these promises in all that we do. We look forward to serving you for years to come.
Volunteer-run Nonprofit
AMA PDX is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and volunteer-run organization with the mission to connect, support and empower the Portland marketing community through education and professional development.
As a volunteer organization, we rely on the passions and talents of our local marketing community as well as the support of local sponsors to power our events and programs.
