Client Overview

Widmer Brothers Brewing helped create the craft beer movement in 1984, and introduced the original American-style Hefeweizen. Since then, the brewery’s iconic Hefe has grown to become Oregon’s favorite craft beer.

Project Objectives

Over the years, the craft beer scene has become overcrowded with “flashy newcomers” that have stolen the spotlight from breweries who have paved the way for the craft movement. With stagnant beer sales, Widmer Brothers engaged Sasquatch to formulate a strategy to reinvigorate brand momentum in their home state of Oregon and make Hefe cool again.

Tasked with reinforcing Hefe's positioning as Oregon's Favorite Craft Beer, Sasquatch took to the mountains, landmarks, and beaches to enliven Hefe through celebrating the great state of Oregon. Social was the perfect space to start conversations with beer drinking Oregonians, and tap into the rich outdoor adventures already taking place.

Project Summary

Sasquatch set out to increase brand presence across social platforms, with an emphasis on high quality, scroll-stopping content. We pioneered the hashtag #OregonIsAwesome to foster community engagement, and rewarded fans with branded gear.

We traveled to 14 of Oregon’s most iconic destinations to celebrate Hefe and curate a visually-led conversation around Oregon pride, including photo, time-lapse, stop-motion and traditional video content. We engaged social influencers to increase exposure of the campaign, which resulted in quick hashtag adaptation and widespread use within the state of Oregon and beyond. Throughout the campaign, we also executed against a paid social plan to reach new fans, keeping Hefe top of mind all summer long.
