Travel Portland - Convention Sales: Maker’s Day, a Portland cubicle makeover
We wanted to honor what has always held true in Portland and speak to our audience. Meeting local makers and interviewing planners we found an intersection of craft and authenticity. This was for planners as well as a nod to Portland. We <3 u PDX!

Portland-made stapler sweater, magnets, Scout Book & terrarium w/ driftwood
The Convention Sales department's objective is to bring meetings and conventions to Portland. They wanted to create an annual mailer to send to their top meeting planners prospects that only Portland could deliver. Through conversations with meeting planners and exploring Portland, we created various concepts - some more tech, other more unique. Collaborating with client, we decided to create a holiday, Maker's Day, to demonstrate the craft and attention-to-detail that Portland offers as a city and as a meetings destination recognizing the hard work meeting planners do to make it happen.
The "Office Cubicle Makeover" includes all goodies Portland made: hand-crocheted stapler sweater, Scout Book, magnets and a terrarium w/ Oregon driftwood
Last year they received customized Portland LEGO kits - how were we going to top that?!
From project commencement, both client and our team understood that our KPI was lead nurture and delight - a reason for the meeting planner to reach out to the sales team to continue the conversation on how Portland is a special place to host a meeting. Additionally we sent a follow up email to ensure they received it.
The results were outstanding.
"Thank you so much for my Makers Day box! It brought a smile to my face today! Travel Portland has by far the most creative marketing goodies! The Lego sets were awesome but I think this just topped it!"
"Got the box today. Super creative and it amused the heck out of me. Love the alligator stapler cozy!"
